Hi we are Gabriel & Michele your local dog trainers in the Melbourne South East region.

From a very early age I was always into all animals, but my passion was dog training.  I got my first dog at the age of 13 which was a Labrador x German Shepherd named Rover.  

I have always enjoyed being involved with people, having been on Youth Hostel sub-committees and managing a 40-bed private nursing home for over 14 years. Whilst enjoying these roles, I always had an intense desire to work with dogs. After making enquiries, I discovered Bark Busters In Home Dog Training and the brilliant way the system works. I have been a Bark Busters dog trainer since 1997 and have never looked back.

It’s wonderful to go into people’s homes, teach them and their puppies or adult dogs what to do and how to do it, whilst having a laugh in the process.  Working with all behavioural issues as well as general obedience, it gives me enormous satisfaction to be able to teach people how to stop their dogs’ frustrating problems in a very simple, fast and effective way.  Many of my clients ask me if it’s normal that their dog seems more relaxed and happier after I have worked with them.  I reply with a big smile on my face, “Yes, it is”.

Dog training is a passion that I love sharing with my clients. One couple who called me in to help them owned a Spoodle and a Labradoodle. Jessie was a prolific barker, barking when the owners were at home and at work. The second dog James was, in the owners’ own words, “a maniac, living on the edge”. James enjoyed doing his own thing, usually things his owners did not want. Also, as far as obedience was concerned, James just wasn’t interested. He was too busy chasing the cat and Jessie, pulling washing off the line to use as a tug toy with Jessie and chewing it. He also liked to jump on people and the furniture, whilst playing catch me if you can with the TV remote, giving everyone lots of exercise in the process. Every walk was practice for “pulling the human down the street Olympics”.

Within three hours of starting work with Jessie and James, the owners could not believe how much positive change they had gained so quickly. Both dogs were now relaxed. Jessie had stopped the nuisance barking, even when her owners were not at home. James would sit/stay quietly on his inside bed, the jumping up stopped and both dogs would come to their owners with tails wagging, when they were called. Both dogs no longer pulled on the lead and everyone gets lots of exercise walking to the leash-free park. The owners had control of their dogs and their TV remote.

They loved the fact that all they had to do was call us if they needed further help as their Life of the Dog Guarantee states.  We love this work! Did someone say work?

My partner, Michele, joined me in Bark Busters in 1999, having always been an ardent animal lover herself.

We used to own a gorgeous boy Airedale named Taffy, who won best obedience Airedale in competition in Victoria. He was also trained as a companion dog, having CD after his kennel name. He lived to the ripe old age of 15 and it was always great to give him the “speak” command and watch him laugh as he threw back his handsome head and barked on command. We next owned another lovely Airedale named Nellie, who came from the RSPCA.  Nellie was a beautiful big happy clown who lived to more than 13 years of age. We are now the proud owners of Mia, a delightful Spoodle, whom we adopted from Save A Dog Scheme and who has settled in beautifully with us.

With a total of more than 25 years experience between us, we look forward to helping you, whether it’s with your new puppy to prevent problems and teach general obedience, to working with you and your older dog and any behavioural issues and training needed.
